Johns Hopkins Takes Time for Schools Helps Mentor Young Minds

Johns Hopkins Takes Time for Schools (JHTTFS) is a service partnership that provides opportunities for faculty and staff to offer their talents to the city's youth and improve the administrative and educational outcomes of Baltimore City Public Schools (BCPS). Listen to Johns Hopkins volunteers and BCPS staff describe the positive impact of the partnership on students by clicking on the pictures in the left side of the webpage.

Staff members are eligible for up to two work days of paid service leave to assist with various school volunteer opportunities. Eligibility and participation requirements may vary by division. Staff members are encouraged to talk with their supervisors about participating and fulfilling work responsibilities.

Participants must register and select service opportunities in advance. Service opportunities are searchable in an online database that includes the following categories:

  • Support Enrichment and Learning Opportunities
  • Help Students Connect with the World of Work
  • Support Parent Involvement
  • Help School Leaders and Staff
  • Green Our Schools/Great Kids Farm
  • Support Central Office
  • Motivational Speaking

Your time can be used to participate in a variety of activities including chaperoning for field trips, volunteering for school events, or assisting in the classroom. For more information or to find out if you are eligible, visit www.hopkinsworklife.org or contact Kathleen Crostic at kcrostic@jhu.edu or 443-997-0138.
