Staff, Faculty, and Students Provide 1,600 School Uniforms to Support Baltimore City Students

Thank you to the faculty, staff, and students who generously sponsored elementary, middle, and high school students whose families are unable to purchase their mandatory school uniforms. In its 2nd year, the Johns Hopkins Adopt-a-Student Uniform drive sponsored 800 students, an increase of 660 students from the inaugural drive, by collecting donations of $40 to purchase two complete uniforms for each student.

Approximately 300 students and their families attended an ice cream social to pick up their uniforms on Wednesday, August 22 in the Glass Pavilion. The students who couldn’t attend were able to pick up their uniforms from City Schools Office of Engagement. The response by Johns Hopkins faculty, staff, and students far exceeded the goal of sponsoring 125 students and served as another example of Johns Hopkins’ commitment to the young people of Baltimore City.
