Join us for Step Out: Walk to Fight Diabetes

Did you know nearly 400,000 Marylanders have diabetes? The prevalence of diabetes in our state exceeds the national average. Join Johns Hopkins and the American Diabetes Association in raising awareness and funds in the fight against this disease. Register to walk in the Step Out: Walk to Fight Diabetes event being held in Baltimore on Saturday, October 6 or sponsor a Johns Hopkins University team.

For the third year in a row, Johns Hopkins University is partnering with the Johns Hopkins Institutions to help raise awareness and funds in the fight against diabetes. The university’s goal is to raise $5,000. You can help by participating in the 5K (3 mile) walk being held at Rash Field, Inner Harbor on Saturday, October 6. Registration opens at 8:00 a.m. and the walk begins at 9:00 a.m.

Here’s what you need to know to get involved:

  • If you would like to join an existing JHU team, log on to www.diabetes.org/hopkins2012 and click “Join Team” next to any Johns Hopkins University team to register as a walker.
  • To form a new team, log on to www.diabetes.org/hopkins2012. Click “Form a New Team.” Your team name should begin with Johns Hopkins University. Select “Johns Hopkins Institutions” from the National Team drop down. Choose “Corporate Team” from the Team Division drop down.
  • To donate to an existing JHU team, log on to www.diabetes.org/hopkins2012. Click on a team and select “donate” to sponsor a walker.
