Faculty, staff, and retirees can contribute to the Johns Hopkins Neighborhood Fund during the United Way campaign to fully fund grants that assist nonprofits’ efforts to build stronger neighborhoods by addressing needs in the areas of community revitalization, education, employment, health, and public safety.

Organizations within the Live Near Your Work footprint or a ¾ mile radius of certain Johns Hopkins campuses that provide services focused on community revitalization, education, employment, health, and/or public safety are eligible for funds.

Help Brighten the Holidays for Families, Seniors, and Adults with Disabilities (December 2014)

All Hopkins faculty, staff, students, and retirees are invited to help brighten the holidays for families, seniors, and adults with disabilities facing hardships. The Office of Work, Life and Engagement partners with local nonprofit and social service agencies to provide gifts, clothing, and grocery gift cards to families and individuals who are in need of assistance during the holiday season.

Individuals and groups interested in adopting a family or senior should complete the online registration form no later than Thursday, December 11. More...

Vernon Rice Memorial Holiday Turkey Program Provides Food during the December Holidays (December 2014)

Thanks to employee generosity, almost 60 families and seniors will receive a food basket for Thanksgiving. Additional food baskets are needed for the December Holidays.

You are invited to donate $20 to provide a basket of a fresh turkey and vegetables from a local and free-range farm for a family in need. St. Anthony of Padua Church will deliver the food baskets directly to families for the December holidays. All donations must be received by December 5. More...

Adopt-a-Family/Adopt-a-Senior to Brighten the Holidays

The Adopt-a-Family/Adopt-a-Senior program helps to make the holiday season brighter for those in need and provides families and individuals with gifts, clothing, and grocery gift cards that they may not otherwise receive or be able to afford.

Staff, Faculty, and Students Provide 800 School Uniforms to Support Baltimore City Students (October 2014)

Baltimore City Public Schools has turned to Johns Hopkins to support families who cannot afford the required student uniforms. Since 2011, thanks to the generosity of the Johns Hopkins community, we have met the need. During the 2014 Johns Hopkins Adopt-a-Student Uniform Drive, 400 students from 78 Baltimore City Public Schools were sponsored, providing students with two new uniforms each, to allow them to start the 2014-2015 school year prepared and ready to learn. United Way pledges directed to The Johns Hopkins Neighborhood Fund help local non-profits build stronger communities. Organizations within the Live Near Your Work footprint or a ¾ mile radius of certain Johns Hopkins campuses that provide services focused on community revitalization, education, employment, health, and/or public safety are eligible for funds. Grant applications describing the organization’s positive impact on the community require a Johns Hopkins sponsor (an employee, retiree, or student) and are due no later than Thursday, February 13, 2014 by 5:00 p.m. More...
