Workplace Mediation Program (October 2013)

The University’s workplace mediation program is designed to provide a voluntary and confidential process to resolve conflict arising in the course of employment, in accordance with the Workplace Mediation Procedures. Mediation brings participants together with a mediator in an informal, neutral setting to share perspectives, identify disputed issues, develop options, consider possible solutions, and seek to reach a mutually acceptable resolution to their dispute. Mediation Works: An Opportunity for Resolution (December 2012)

People bring different perspectives, work styles, and personalities to the workplace and will naturally find themselves in conflict. Conflict in the workplace might just be a co-worker in the next cubicle talking too loudly or miscommunication between a supervisor and an employee regarding job expectations. The University introduced the Workplace Mediation program to help staff deal with workplace conflict in a constructive way and to promote a collaborative work environment. More...
