Who Is Eligible for Retirement Choice?
Retirement Choice is just around the corner—March 18-April 15, 2011. During this time, eligible support staff will choose the way in which they accrue future retirement benefits. Find out if you are eligible for this important choice.
Who’s Eligible for Retirement Choice
Depending on hire date, support staff are the only group who will participate in Retirement Choice.
|Support Staff (working at least 19 hours/week)|
|Hire Date||Eligibility for retirement choice|
|Prior to July 1, 2009||You are eligible for Retirement Choice|
|July 1, 2009 – June 30, 2011||You have not yet become eligible for the Support Staff Pension Plan, and therefore you are not eligible for Retirement Choice|
|July 1, 2011 and later||You are not eligible for the Support Staff Pension Plan (no new participants after June 30, 2011), and therefore you are not eligible for Retirement Choice|
Eligible support staff will choose between two options—whether to stay in the Support Staff Pension Plan and Staff Voluntary 403(b) Plan or move to the new Johns Hopkins University 403(b) Plan effective July 1, 2011.
